Stress is perceptually based, not everyone feels stress the same way. Why? Simply put, because we all have different life experiences that have shaped us (i.e., wired our brains) into the people we are today. Stress can be defined as any emotion (i.e., sadness, boredom, fear, frustration, or excitement) that overwhelms you, throwing you off balance. This means you can feel stressed anywhere and at anytime.
Your level of functioning changes with your level of stress. The more stress you feel and the longer you feel it, the more likely you are to experience DISTRESS. And that can lead to significant, harmful effects like severe physical and/or mental illness.
